What is TRevPAB?
Total Revenue Per Available Bed (TRevPAB) measures revenue against beds instead of rooms. For hostels, dorms, and shared-room properties, the bed is the real unit of inventory, so TRevPAB gives a far more accurate read than room-based metrics.
How to calculate TRevPAB
TRevPAB = Total Revenue / Total Available Beds.
Example: $18,000 in total revenue across 600 available bed-nights gives $18,000 / 600 = $30.00.
Why TRevPAB matters
- It matches how shared-accommodation properties actually sell inventory.
- It makes mixed dorm-and-private layouts comparable on one yardstick.
- It surfaces whether you are pricing beds, not just rooms, effectively.
How to improve TRevPAB
- Price beds dynamically by demand, day of week, and event calendar.
- Add paid extras: lockers, linens, tours, breakfast, late checkout.
- Lift direct bookings to keep more revenue per bed.
